The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has cautioned the public to prepare for an extended period of intense precipitation that poses significant threats to communities nationwide. The eight-day forecast underscores the need for heightened vigilance in flood-prone areas and regions susceptible to landslides.
Authorities are urging residents in low-lying areas and near waterways to take preventive measures, including monitoring water levels and preparing evacuation plans where necessary. Provincial administrations have been advised to activate emergency response protocols and ensure drainage systems are functioning optimally ahead of the anticipated rainfall.
The warning comes as Thailand enters its monsoon season, a period when the country typically experiences increased precipitation and associated hydrological hazards. Landslide risks are particularly acute in mountainous and hilly terrain where soil saturation from prolonged rain can destabilize slopes.
Residents are advised to stay informed through official weather updates and follow guidance from local disaster management authorities. The TMD has recommended avoiding unnecessary travel to remote or elevated areas during the forecasted period and to exercise caution when driving through areas with active weather warnings.
