Thailand is intensifying efforts to boost its long-haul tourism sector, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand announcing ambitious visitor targets for the coming years. The agency has set its sights on welcoming 11 million long-haul tourists by 2027, reflecting confidence in the country's appeal to international travelers.

For 2026, the authority has maintained its previous target of 10.7 million visitors from distant markets, with expected tourism revenue reaching 690 billion baht. These figures underscore the strategic importance of long-haul tourism to Thailand's economy as the sector continues to recover and expand following global travel disruptions.

The tourism push aligns with broader economic initiatives across Thailand. The government has identified agriculture as a key economic pillar, signaling efforts to diversify the nation's revenue streams beyond tourism. Meanwhile, Thai authorities have implemented new regulatory measures to ensure transparency in the digital economy, requiring identity verification for social media advertisers beginning November 1.

Additionally, Thailand has formed specialized task forces to combat illegal e-waste imports, addressing environmental and trade concerns. These coordinated policy efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to sustainable economic development and regulatory oversight as the kingdom positions itself as a premier regional tourism destination.
