Thane Police warn protesters against highway blockades as murder probe advances

Thane Police issued a stern warning against further blockades of highways on Tuesday as overnight protests continued over allegations in a high-profile murder case. The demonstrations have disrupted traffic flow in the region as family members of the deceased press for expedited action.

The family of the murder victim has alleged that police authorities have not taken sufficient action against the former Thane mayor and her husband despite evidence purportedly connecting them to the conspiracy. These allegations have fuelled public anger and prompted successive rounds of protests in the district.

Police officials stated that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to examine the case is actively pursuing leads and remains on schedule with its inquiries. Authorities urged protesters to pursue their grievances through legal channels rather than resorting to public demonstrations that disrupt normal life.

Thane Police warned that any further attempts to block highways would invite strict action under relevant laws. The force appealed for calm while assuring the public and the victim's family that the investigation would proceed with appropriate rigour and speed.
