Thiruvananthapuram airport to halt flights for Padmanabhaswamy Temple procession

Flight services at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (TIAL) will remain suspended between 4 pm and 9 pm on October 20 to accommodate the Arattu procession associated with the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of Kerala's most significant Hindu religious sites.

The five-hour closure represents a coordinated effort between airport authorities and temple management to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of the ceremonial procession through the city. The Arattu, an annual ritual of the temple, draws considerable crowds and necessitates careful traffic and security arrangements in the airport vicinity.

TIAL has scheduled the suspension to align with the timing of the religious ceremony, which holds considerable cultural and spiritual significance for devotees and residents of the capital city. Airlines operating from the airport have been notified of the temporary operational halt to facilitate necessary flight rescheduling and passenger communication.

The Padmanabhaswamy Temple, believed to date back centuries, remains one of Kerala's most important pilgrimage destinations. The airport authority's cooperation with religious institutions reflects the practice of accommodating major cultural events while maintaining essential transportation infrastructure services.
