Thomas Cook India Q2 profit tumbles 24% despite EBITDA gains

Thomas Cook India's financial performance came under pressure in the second quarter of FY27, with net profit sliding to ₹53.7 crore from the year-ago period. Revenue for the quarter contracted to ₹1,944.2 crore, signalling headwinds in the travel and leisure sector.

Despite the top-line weakness, the company managed to improve operational metrics, with EBITDA rising 3 per cent during the quarter. The modest margin expansion suggests management's focus on cost control and operational efficiency amid softer demand.

Looking ahead, Thomas Cook India has flagged optimism for the third quarter, anticipating a 30 per cent surge in leisure travel bookings. The projection reflects expectations of stronger seasonal demand during the October-December period, traditionally a peak travel season in India.

The travel sector in India has faced mixed conditions in recent months, with corporate travel showing resilience while leisure bookings remain sensitive to economic sentiment and holiday calendars. Thomas Cook's performance outlook will be closely watched as an indicator of consumer demand in the broader travel and tourism space.
