KUALA LUMPUR — Thousands of Muslims participated in Maulidur Rasul festivities across the country on Wednesday, with the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad's birthday drawing widespread attendance from various communities and government officials.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim led a procession at Universiti Putra Malaysia, where the event was themed around Madani Dihayati, the government's civilisational development initiative. The UPM gathering served as a focal point for the nationwide commemoration, drawing participants from multiple states.

Maulidur Rasul, celebrated on the 12th day of Rabi' al-awwal in the Islamic calendar, remains one of the most significant occasions in the Muslim calendar. The 1448H date corresponds to 2026 in the Gregorian calendar, reflecting the year in which the celebration falls.

The nationwide observance demonstrated sustained public engagement with religious commemorations, with participants attending various events organised across major towns and cities. The integration of the Madani Dihayati theme reflected government efforts to link cultural and religious celebrations with broader policy objectives.

Organisers did not immediately release final attendance figures, though preliminary reports indicated substantial turnout at the main venue and satellite events held in conjunction with the celebrations.
