Three prominent Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders—Abhijeet Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das—have been placed under preventive arrest by Delhi Police, according to a senior officer from the force. The trio were detained immediately upon their arrival at the airport ahead of a planned protest scheduled for Saturday at Jantar Mantar, a popular gathering point for demonstrations in central Delhi.
The three leaders are expected to be produced before the Executive Magistrate at Delhi Cantt Police Station on Sunday, police said. Preventive arrest is a legal measure used to prevent individuals from committing an anticipated breach of peace or disturbance of public order.
Due to the planned protest, Delhi Police had deployed extensive security measures across central Delhi on Saturday. The enhanced security arrangements successfully prevented protesters from accessing the Jantar Mantar area, according to police statements. The force maintained a significant presence in the region throughout the day to maintain law and order.
