Three dead as torrential rains sweep northern Vietnam

Northern Vietnam has been battered by intense rainfall that triggered flooding across multiple provinces, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. The deluge claimed three lives as water levels rose rapidly in affected communities, forcing evacuations and emergency responses from local authorities.

The scale of damage extends well beyond the human toll. Thousands of residential structures sustained significant damage or were destroyed entirely, displacing families and leaving communities struggling to cope with the aftermath. The flooding has swept through both urban and rural areas, affecting essential infrastructure and services.

The agricultural sector has borne a particularly heavy blow, with floodwaters inundating more than 22,000 hectares of farmland across the region. Crops including rice and other staple vegetables have been submerged, raising concerns about food security and the livelihoods of farming communities dependent on the current harvest season.
