Three dead as Uttar Pradesh grapples with severe flooding across 23 districts
Over 16,700 people have been evacuated to safety as flooding persists across Uttar Pradesh, with three deaths reported in rain-related incidents. State authorities have mobilised extensive rescue operations involving thousands of boats and medical teams.

Uttar Pradesh continues to reel from widespread flooding, with 16,784 people evacuated to safety as of Wednesday, when another 3,042 individuals were rescued from inundated areas. Three deaths have been confirmed in rain-related incidents, including an 18-month-old child in Pratapgarh district and two men in Amroha's Gajraula area.
The state government has activated substantial relief and rescue operations across 23 of the 35 districts impacted so far. Authorities have deployed 1,499 boats and motorboats for rescue missions, while 1,067 medical teams have been mobilised to provide healthcare support in affected areas. The state has established 1,311 flood shelters, with 201 currently operational, and relief assistance has been extended to 442 locations.
Affected districts span a wide geographic area, including Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Ballia, Barabanki, Badaun, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Raebareli, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Sonbhadra, Unnao and Varanasi. State officials said evacuation operations continue as weather conditions remain challenging in several districts.
