Three Indian swimmers advance to Asian Games finals, medal hopes intact
India's swimming contingent achieved mixed results on Friday at the Asian Games, with three swimmers qualifying for finals in their respective events while others fell short of the cut.

Veteran swimmer Sajan Prakash qualified for the men's 200m butterfly final, clocking 2:00.94 to secure sixth place in the heats. Competing in what is expected to be his final Asian Games appearance, Prakash maintains his medal medal prospects heading into the championship round.
The 200m backstroke final will feature two Indian swimmers after Rishabh Das and Utkarsh Patil both advanced from the heats. Das put in an impressive performance, finishing fourth overall with a time of 2:00.53, while Patil secured the ninth qualifying position with a timing of 2:02.13. The top 10 swimmers across heats automatically advance to the finals.
However, India's swimming team faced setbacks in other events. In the men's 400m freestyle, both Dhanshan Shashikumar and Aneesh Gowda missed the final cut. Gowda finished 17th with a time of 3:58.08, while Shashikumar placed 18th with 3:58.73. Dhanush Suresh also fell short in the 50m breaststroke heats, finishing 21st with a time of 28.40.
