Three Japanese firms added to prestigious Nikkei 225 index

Japan's index operator announced the addition of three companies to the Nikkei 225, one of Asia's most closely watched equity benchmarks. The new constituents—JX Advanced Metals, Kokusai Electric and Capcom—will join the index following a periodic review of its composition.

JX Advanced Metals, a subsidiary of Japan Exchange Group's parent company, specializes in the production and processing of advanced materials critical to electronics and industrial applications. Kokusai Electric, a manufacturer of semiconductor production equipment, has established itself as a key supplier to chipmakers across Asia. Capcom, the prominent video game developer and publisher, brings consumer entertainment exposure to the index.

Inclusion in the Nikkei 225 reflects each company's market capitalization, liquidity and prominence within Japan's corporate landscape. The index, maintained by the Nikkei Inc., comprises 225 large-cap companies representing diverse sectors of the Japanese economy and serves as a primary gauge of market health in the region.

The composition changes underscore ongoing shifts in Japan's industrial base, with growing emphasis on advanced materials and technology sectors alongside established entertainment and manufacturing pillars. The three firms' addition will take effect on the date specified by the index operator, with details regarding any concurrent removals to be announced separately.
