Law enforcement officials in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) reported the violent incidents that unfolded throughout the day in two neighboring provinces. The first shooting took place shortly after noon along the national highway in Barangay Salbu, Datu Saudi in Maguindanao del Sur, according to police records.
Details surrounding each incident remained limited as authorities conducted their initial investigations. Police did not immediately provide information about the circumstances leading to the shootings or the identities of those involved in the attacks.
The incidents underscore ongoing security concerns in the Bangsamoro region despite the implementation of the election gun ban, a measure intended to maintain peace during the electoral period. Regional authorities have pledged to intensify investigations into the shootings and enhance security measures in affected areas.
The Bangsamoro region has long struggled with armed conflict and criminality. Police urged witnesses to come forward with information that could aid in the resolution of the cases.
