Law enforcement officials in Hyderabad have expanded their investigation into a significant military weapons theft, taking three soldiers into custody alongside four other suspects. The arrests relate to the stealing of firearms from the Bolarum armory, a defence establishment in the city's outskirts.
According to police statements, the stolen weapons were earmarked for criminal use in carrying out multiple robberies across the region. The coordinated nature of the suspected crimes suggests a premeditated operation involving both military and civilian participants.
Among those detained is a retired Havaldar named Mallesh, who police allege played a crucial intermediary role in the operation. Investigators claim Mallesh attempted to broker the sale of the pilfered military weapons to associates based in West Bengal, indicating a potentially wider criminal network stretching across state lines.
The discovery of the theft and subsequent arrests mark a significant security breach at the military facility. Authorities have intensified their investigation to determine the full extent of the conspiracy, the number of weapons involved, and whether any firearms have already been distributed or sold to criminal elements.
