Three soldiers injured responding to clan conflict in Lanao del Sur

Three soldiers were wounded on Saturday while responding to a rido, or clan-based conflict, in Picong, Lanao del Sur, according to police authorities. Capt. Steffi Salanguit, spokesperson for the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PRO-BAR), confirmed the injured personnel were part of government forces deployed to the area.

The soldiers received medical attention following the incident on November 7. Details regarding the nature of their injuries and the circumstances that led to the confrontation were not immediately disclosed by authorities.

Rido conflicts, which stem from long-standing family or clan grievances, remain a persistent security issue across Mindanao. Government forces regularly deploy to affected areas in attempts to mediate disputes and prevent further violence.

The PRO-BAR continues to monitor the situation in Picong as investigations into the incident proceed. Authorities have not released additional information regarding potential casualties or damage resulting from the clash.
