Three-year-old survives Delhi building collapse; mother among five dead

A three-year-old child survived a building collapse in Seemapuri, Delhi, with only minor injuries after neighbours discovered him crying in the rubble next to his grandmother Salma, who sustained serious injuries in the incident.

The collapse claimed five lives, including the child's mother. Emergency response teams launched immediate rescue and recovery operations at the site, working to extract trapped residents from the debris.

Neighbours played a crucial role in the initial response, locating the young survivor and alerting authorities to the presence of those trapped beneath the structure. The injured grandmother, along with the child, were transported to medical facilities for treatment.

The incident has raised concerns about building safety in the densely populated Delhi neighbourhood. Authorities have begun preliminary investigations to determine the cause of the structural failure.
