The state weather bureau issued a thunderstorm advisory early Thursday morning, alerting residents across the capital and surrounding Luzon provinces to prepare for severe weather conditions. The advisory, released at 7:10 a.m., specifically warned of moderate to heavy rainshowers accompanied by lightning strikes and strong wind gusts in the affected areas.
The inclement weather is attributed to the Intertropical Convergence Zone and northeasterly wind flow patterns moving across portions of the Philippines. These atmospheric conditions are expected to bring concentrated rainfall to several localities, potentially causing localized flooding in low-lying areas and poor drainage systems.
The weather bureau recommended that residents in affected areas remain indoors during peak weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. Motorists were advised to exercise caution on roadways, particularly in areas prone to waterlogging, while outdoor activities should be postponed until weather conditions improve.
The advisory remains in effect for Metro Manila, with similar warnings applicable to other vulnerable areas across Luzon. The weather bureau continues to monitor atmospheric developments and will issue updated advisories as conditions evolve throughout the day.
