Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams expands insurance coverage for pilgrims

The board governing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has rolled out enhanced insurance protections for pilgrims visiting the hill shrine. Under the new arrangement, devotees who die of natural causes while at the temple will be covered under a ₹2 lakh life insurance scheme, providing financial support to their families during times of loss.

In addition to the natural death coverage, the TTD has significantly increased its accidental insurance benefit to ₹10 lakh for pilgrims. The expansion reflects the institution's commitment to safeguarding visitors to one of India's most visited religious sites, which welcomes hundreds of thousands of devotees annually.

The board has also extended health facility benefits under the Employee Health Facility scheme to retired Central Pension Scheme (CPS) and National Pension Scheme (NPS) pensioners and their dependents, broadening the scope of welfare provisions for retired personnel associated with the temple administration.

These announcements coincide with preparations for the nine-day Brahmotsavams festival at the temple. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to offer silk garments to Lord Venkateswara on September 15, marking the ceremonial commencement of the annual celebration that draws devotees from across the country.
