Local civic bodies have been highlighting the benefits of idols crafted from biodegradable materials such as clay, natural soil, and organic substances. These alternatives dissolve naturally without leaving toxic residue, unlike synthetic paints and non-biodegradable materials traditionally used in idol manufacturing.
The campaign encourages households and community organisations to source sustainably-made idols from certified artisans and suppliers. Officials have also promoted home-based immersion methods and dry disposal options as practical alternatives to water-based immersion practices.
