Tirupati temple commences Navaratri festivities with grand processions

The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Andhra Pradesh has begun its celebrated Navaratri Brahmotsavams, one of the most important festivals in Hindu tradition. The festivities opened with the Tiruchi procession, during which Lord Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by Sridevi and Bhudevi, traversed the four mada streets of the temple complex to offer blessings to devotees gathered along the route.

The opening day featured the Pedda Sesha Vahanam seva, a significant ritual in which the deity is carried on the ceremonial serpent vehicle. This procession is a defining feature of the Tirupati temple's Navaratri celebrations and draws large numbers of pilgrims from across the country.

As part of the festival preparations, new ceremonial umbrellas have been offered to the temple, adding to the grandeur of the sacred processions. These ornate coverings are traditionally used to shelter the deity during public appearances and processions throughout the festival period.

The Navaratri Brahmotsavams at Tirumala, spanning nine days, are expected to witness sustained devotional participation. The festival celebrates the victory of divine forces and holds deep spiritual significance for millions of Hindus, particularly in South India.
