Tissot eyes rapid expansion across India's smaller cities

Tissot is positioning India as one of its key growth markets, with expansion plans focusing on smaller metropolitan areas beyond the major metros. The luxury watch brand's India operations have been expanding at rates exceeding 50 percent annually, surpassing growth rates in Switzerland itself, according to company leadership.

Global Chief Executive Sylvain Dolla indicated that the trajectory for India is no longer uncertain. "Growth is a question of when, not if," he noted, signaling confidence in the market's long-term potential amid rising affluence and consumer appetite for premium goods.

To capture this momentum, Tissot is planning to establish additional mono-brand boutiques in Tier-II cities, moving beyond its traditional concentration in major urban centers. This strategy reflects a broader shift among luxury brands to tap into emerging consumer bases in secondary markets across India.

The expansion aligns with India's growing middle class and increasing purchasing power in non-metropolitan regions. As the country's wealth creation accelerates beyond major metros, luxury brands are recognizing the commercial opportunity in Tier-II cities where brand presence remains limited but consumer interest is rising.
