TMC legislator's vehicle attacked in West Bengal ahead of Mamata rally

A Trinamool Congress legislator's vehicle was attacked in West Bengal's Hoogli district on Tuesday, in an apparent bid to prevent him from attending a public rally addressed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Kunal Ghosh, who represents the region in the state assembly, was travelling to Serampore to participate in Banerjee's mass gathering when the assault took place in Uttarpara. Details of the attack, including the identity of the assailants and the extent of damage to the vehicle, remained unclear at the time of reporting. The incident adds to mounting tensions in the politically volatile district, where competing political factions have increasingly clashed during the run-up to electoral cycles.
