Domestic electricity customers in Malaysia will receive bill credits in October as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) implements a comprehensive relief measure targeting lower-consumption households. The initiative, effective from September 1 through December 31, aims to reduce the financial burden on residential users during the four-month period.
Under the scheme, customers whose monthly electricity consumption does not exceed 800 kilowatt-hours qualify for complete exemption from three standard charges: the Automatic Fuel Adjustment charge, the RM10 retail service charge, and the 8% service tax. This exemption structure effectively reduces bills for qualifying households across the specified period.
The pro rata credit mechanism allows TNB to adjust billing calculations to reflect the full exemptions owed to eligible customers. The October billing cycle will incorporate these adjustments, ensuring households receive appropriate reductions based on their consumption patterns during the relief period.
The relief programme represents TNB's response to managing electricity costs for domestic consumers, with the exemptions applying uniformly to all qualifying households nationwide. Customers are advised to verify their consumption levels and billing statements to confirm eligibility under the four-month initiative.
