TNCC Chief Hits Out at Centre Over Rising LPG Prices, UPI Charges
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Manickam Tagore has criticised the central government's policies on commercial liquefied petroleum gas pricing and proposed merchant discount rate charges on digital payments. The party leader warned that both measures would impose additional burdens on small traders and businesses.

The TNCC chief lambasted the Centre over the continued rise in commercial LPG prices, arguing that the escalating costs are weighing heavily on small and medium enterprises across the state. Tagore contended that the government's pricing policies lack adequate consideration for their impact on the business community and consumer welfare.
In a broader critique of fiscal measures, Tagore also objected to the proposed merchant discount rate (MDR) charges on Unified Payments Interface transactions. He argued that implementing such charges would compound the financial strain on small traders already grappling with rising operational costs and economic pressures.
The Congress leader's comments reflect growing concerns within opposition parties about the government's policies affecting the informal and small business sectors. With inflation persisting across essential commodities and energy products, the issue of commercial LPG pricing has emerged as a significant point of political contention in several states.
