Tokyo pizzeria PST to close Singapore outlet after 16-month run

PST, the renowned pizzeria from Tokyo, will close its Singapore outpost at the end of October, less than a year and a half after its high-profile launch in the city-state. The Tanjong Pagar outlet, which opened to considerable interest from diners seeking authentic Japanese-style pizza, will cease operations on October 31.
The decision to shutter the location comes after 16 months of operations. The closure marks a setback for the brand's expansion plans in Singapore's competitive dining scene.
Despite the closure of its current location, PST's management team has indicated that the brand remains committed to Singapore. In statements accompanying the announcement, the team characterised the closure as a transition rather than a definitive departure, suggesting that future opportunities in the market remain under consideration.
The closure reflects broader challenges facing international food concepts in Singapore, where high rental costs and intense competition continue to pressure dining establishments. PST's exit adds to the growing list of acclaimed international restaurants that have found the Singapore market difficult to sustain.
