Phu Quoc's tourism sector has delivered exceptional growth, welcoming more than 8.57 million visitors in the nine-month period through September 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 30.5%. International arrivals have surged particularly strongly, climbing 60.2% to exceed 1.92 million travelers, underscoring the destination's expanding appeal among overseas guests.

The visitor influx has translated into substantial economic gains for the island, with tourism-related revenue reaching approximately 45.976 trillion VND. This represents a 47.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025 and has already surpassed the government's full-year revenue target by 1%, signaling robust momentum heading into the final quarter.

Infrastructure development has accelerated to support continued growth. Phu Quoc International Airport recently commissioned a second runway following an eight-month construction sprint, significantly enhancing the island's capacity to handle increased passenger volumes. Meanwhile, Sun Group, a major regional hospitality player, has elevated Vietnam's tourism profile by making its debut at the Asia-Pacific travel showcase, positioning Phu Quoc as a premier destination within the broader regional travel market.

The strategic investments reflect preparations for Phu Quoc's hosting of APEC 2027, an international economic forum that is expected to further catalyze infrastructure improvements and tourism opportunities across the island and the wider Vietnamese economy.
