The Ministry of Transport has moved to clarify the data access arrangements between MyJPJ and Nile Tech, stating that the technology company does not have direct access to personal information held within the digital platform.
The insurance renewal service featured in MyJPJ functions solely as a link that directs users to the Nile Tech portal to complete their transactions, the ministry explained. This arrangement means that any data exchange occurs only when users voluntarily navigate to the external platform to proceed with their insurance renewals.
The clarification addresses concerns about data security and privacy within MyJPJ, Malaysia's integrated vehicle and driving licence management system. By confirming the limited nature of Nile Tech's access, the ministry sought to assure users that their personal information stored on MyJPJ remains contained within the government system.
The transport ministry's statement underscores the distinction between providing a convenient service link within MyJPJ and granting access to the underlying database. Users wishing to renew their vehicle insurance through the portal must actively choose to proceed to Nile Tech's independent platform to complete the process.
