Transport Ministry Has No Recent AirAsia Discussions, Loke Confirms

Transport Minister Anthony Loke stated on Tuesday that his ministry has not engaged in recent talks with AirAsia, clarifying that he is unaware of any active discussions between his department and the airline operator.

Loke's remarks came in response to inquiries about potential engagements between the Transport Ministry and AirAsia, one of Malaysia's largest aviation operators. The minister emphasised that no such meetings have taken place recently under his purview.

The clarification suggests there has been speculation about behind-the-scenes negotiations or consultations between the government transport authority and the low-cost carrier, prompting Loke to publicly address the matter.

AirAsia, which operates extensive regional routes across Southeast Asia from its Kuala Lumpur hub, has faced various regulatory and operational matters requiring government liaison in the past. However, Loke's statement indicates no current formal engagement on file with his ministry at this time.
