Tremors shake China, Pakistan, Afghanistan as Tibet death toll rises

Earthquake tremors were felt across China, Pakistan, and Afghanistan on Friday morning, with the National Centre for Seismology recording magnitudes between 4.1 and 4.9 across the region. Pakistan experienced the strongest tremor at 4.9 magnitude, while China and Afghanistan recorded lower intensity readings.
The quakes sent residents to open spaces in major cities as a precautionary measure. There were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties from the Friday morning seismic activity across the three countries.
The tremors came as rescue and relief operations continued in Tibet following Thursday's earthquake, which has claimed at least 16 lives so far. Authorities in the region remain on alert as aftershocks continue to be recorded in the seismically active Himalayan zone.
The Himalayan belt remains one of the world's most earthquake-prone regions due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Seismologists have urged residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and follow official safety protocols.
