Tribal schools in Andhra Pradesh face critical infrastructure crisis

Educational institutions serving tribal communities in Maredumilli mandal are grappling with acute infrastructure challenges that threaten the quality of learning, according to findings from a recent assessment by the Students Federation of India (SFI).

The SFI team, which conducted visits to primary schools, ashram schools, and residential institutions across the mandal, documented widespread facility gaps affecting educational delivery. The survey revealed that several schools lack dedicated school buildings, with some operating from temporary structures or dilapidated premises unsuitable for classroom instruction.

The findings underscore persistent disparities in educational infrastructure across tribal regions of Andhra Pradesh. Ashram schools and residential institutions, which cater to vulnerable student populations with limited access to conventional schooling, face particular challenges in maintaining functional facilities and basic amenities.

The assessment adds to growing concerns about educational equity in remote areas, where tribal students often contend with inadequate infrastructure alongside limited resource availability. Educational authorities have yet to respond to the reported findings.
