Trinamool deploys top campaigners for Rejiginanj by-election bid

The Trinamool Congress has released its campaign roster for the Rejiginanj by-election, signalling an all-hands-on-deck approach in the strategically important West Bengal assembly seat. Party supremo Mamata Banerjee will personally spearhead the canvassing effort, alongside her nephew and party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, underscoring the significance the ruling party attaches to retaining the seat.

The campaign machinery will be bolstered by a clutch of senior party leaders and legislators. The list of star campaigners includes Lok Sabha member Mahua Moitra, Trinamool MP Humayun Kabir, and senior state legislators including Kalyan Banerjee and Sovandeb Chattopadhyay. Veteran party figure Saugata Roy also features in the roster.

The by-election assumes particular importance for the Trinamool Congress as it seeks to consolidate its position ahead of the state assembly elections scheduled for 2026. The deployment of its top-tier leadership reflects the party's determination to mobilize grassroots support and counter the campaigns of opposition parties in the constituency.
