Tropical depression expected to strengthen as it enters Philippine waters
A tropical depression currently positioned off Southeastern Luzon is forecast to intensify upon entering the Philippine area of responsibility Thursday morning, according to the state weather bureau. The system may develop into a tropical storm as it moves through Philippine waters.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of the strengthening weather system in its latest advisory issued Wednesday evening. The tropical depression is expected to cross into the Philippine area of responsibility early Thursday, Sept. 24, with conditions favorable for further development.
Pagesa noted that atmospheric conditions ahead of the system could support intensification as it tracks toward the country. The bureau did not immediately specify which provinces would face the most significant impacts, though the system's current position suggests potential effects across the eastern seaboard and Bicol Region.
Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to monitor subsequent weather bulletins for updates on the system's track and intensity. Pagasa typically issues advisories every six hours to track tropical systems and provide guidance to disaster management authorities and the general public.
The Philippines experiences multiple tropical cyclones annually during the typhoon season, which typically runs from June through November. Communities in the eastern portions of the country remain particularly susceptible to tropical storms due to their geographic exposure to systems approaching from the Pacific.
