The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) confirmed the weakening of Tropical Depression Neneng as of 4 p.m. Thursday, noting that the weather system had exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). The center of the former tropical depression was estimated to be beyond the country's jurisdiction at the time of the announcement.
Neneng's transition from a tropical depression to a low-pressure area marks a significant decrease in the system's atmospheric intensity. The weakening came after the weather disturbance tracked across portions of the Philippines in recent days.
With Neneng no longer classified as a tropical depression and having moved beyond Philippine territory, Pagasa indicated that direct impacts to the country from this particular system would cease. The agency continues to monitor weather developments across the region and updates its forecasts accordingly.
Filipinos affected by the passage of Tropical Depression Neneng may now expect improving weather conditions in previously impacted areas as the system continues to move away from the archipelago.
