MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday that Tropical Depression Pilandok is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, even as it remains unlikely to directly impact the Philippine archipelago. The weather system will intensify moisture-laden winds, triggering sustained precipitation across vulnerable areas. Luzon and the western sections of the Visayas are forecast to experience heavy rainfall in the coming days, Pagasa indicated in its 5 p.m. weather update. Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas have been advised to remain vigilant for potential flooding and landslides triggered by the enhanced monsoon conditions. The state weather bureau urged communities to monitor official weather advisories as the system develops, particularly in western-facing coastal regions and mountainous terrain where rainfall accumulation may pose risks to life and property.
