Severe Tropical Storm Champi, still located beyond the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), is expected to approach and potentially enter the country's weather zone early next week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Friday.

According to Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil, the tropical storm may begin affecting Philippine territory from Monday, October 19 onwards, based on current atmospheric conditions and forecast models.

The state weather bureau has been tracking Champi's movement and will continue to issue regular updates as the system moves closer to the archipelago. Residents and maritime authorities are advised to monitor official weather advisories for the latest information on the storm's exact path, intensity, and potential impact areas.

Pagesa typically issues weather alerts and storm signals when tropical systems enter or threaten to enter the PAR, which extends approximately 320 kilometers from the country's coastline. Further guidance on preparedness measures and potential affected regions is expected as Champi's approach becomes more imminent.
