Tropical Storm Queenie accelerates westward off northern Luzon
Tropical Storm Queenie has picked up speed while tracking west-northwestward across the Philippine Sea, remaining well east of extreme northern Luzon. The weather system poses no immediate threat to land areas, according to the Philippine weather agency.

The state weather bureau reported Friday that Tropical Storm Queenie had accelerated slightly while maintaining its westward course over open waters. As of the 11 a.m. bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the storm was positioned approximately 860 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.
The tropical system continues moving in a west-northwestward direction, traversing the Philippine Sea at a faster pace than previously observed. Pagasa monitoring stations have been tracking Queenie's movement and intensity as it progresses across the region.
The positioning of Tropical Storm Queenie well off the eastern coast indicates that residents of extreme northern Luzon and other populated areas face minimal direct impact from the system at this time. However, authorities continue to monitor the storm's trajectory and strength for any potential changes that could affect the archipelago.
