Truck crashes into Durga procession in Karnataka, killing three devotees

Three devotees were killed and at least ten others injured when a truck collided with a Durga Mata idol procession in Belagavi district of Karnataka on Tuesday. The incident occurred as residents were transporting the deity through a busy locality during the Navratri festival season.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and evacuated the injured to nearby medical facilities. Four of the casualties are reported to be in critical condition, with doctors working to stabilize their injuries.

Police have registered a case and begun investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision. Preliminary reports suggest the truck driver may have lost control of the vehicle, though officials are examining all aspects of the incident, including possible mechanical failure or driver negligence.

The accident has cast a shadow over Navratri celebrations in the region. Belagavi, a major city in northern Karnataka bordering Maharashtra, hosts several large religious processions during the festive season, drawing significant crowds of worshippers and observers.
