Trump claims credit for resolving eight conflicts, renews Nobel Prize bid

Trump, speaking to supporters, stated that he had successfully resolved multiple conflicts during his tenure, presenting this as evidence of his diplomatic prowess. The former president has previously made similar claims regarding his foreign policy achievements, particularly highlighting agreements brokered in the Middle East.

The Nobel Peace Prize, awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, recognises individuals and organisations that have "done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses." Trump's repeated assertions about his conflict-resolution efforts appear aimed at building a case for consideration in future award cycles.

During his 2017-2021 presidency, Trump's administration oversaw several diplomatic initiatives, including the Abraham Accords, which saw the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain establish formal relations with Israel. Supporters have cited these agreements as evidence of his contributions to international peace efforts.

However, critics have questioned the characterisation of these agreements and other foreign policy decisions as conflict settlements, pointing to ongoing regional tensions and other international challenges that remained unresolved during his administration.
