Trump Claims US Has Secured Greenland, Venezuela in Historic Deal
Former US President Donald Trump claimed at a rally that the United States has secured Greenland and Venezuela as territories, marking what he described as the greatest real estate deal. The assertions came despite the absence of any formal sovereignty transfer from Denmark regarding Greenland.

Donald Trump told supporters at a campaign rally that the United States has successfully acquired Greenland and Venezuela, characterizing the arrangement as an unprecedented real estate transaction. However, no legal transfer of sovereignty over Greenland from Denmark to the United States has occurred, and diplomatic channels show no evidence of such arrangements being finalized.
The Trump campaign's claims regarding Greenland appear disconnected from recent diplomatic developments. A memorandum of understanding signed between the US and Denmark focused specifically on maritime cooperation in the Arctic region but contained no provisions transferring control of the Danish autonomous territory to American hands.
Denmark has consistently maintained that Greenland is not for sale, while the self-governing territory's leadership has also rejected any notion of sovereignty transfer. Greenland, home to approximately 56,000 people, maintains its own government despite being part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
During the same rally, Trump announced a significant investment commitment from automotive manufacturer Audi in Georgia, emphasizing the potential for job creation in the state. The announcement underscored the campaign's focus on economic development and employment opportunities across American regions.
