US President Donald Trump has turned down an Iranian proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, rejecting what Tehran characterized as a comprehensive peace initiative for the region. According to Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the proposal encompassed a complete cessation of hostilities across the Middle East, with specific focus on resolving the conflict in Lebanon. The Iranian government framed the initiative as a pathway to restore critical shipping routes through one of the world's most strategically important waterways.
