Trump expressed unequivocal support for Netanyahu in the lead-up to Israel's parliamentary elections, describing the premier as "strong, brave and wonderful." The American leader highlighted Netanyahu's role in confronting Iranian regional ambitions, emphasizing his strategic importance to US-Israel relations.
In his endorsement, Trump suggested that selecting any other leader would be a mistake for Israel. The former and current US president has maintained a close relationship with Netanyahu, particularly during his previous administration when both leaders pursued aligned Middle Eastern policies.
Netanyahu reciprocated Trump's backing, expressing gratitude for the American president's support. The Israeli premier has historically benefited from strong US political endorsements, which carry weight among certain voter segments in Israel.
The endorsement comes amid Netanyahu's bid to secure continued electoral support in Israel, where coalition politics and security concerns remain central to voter preferences. Trump's statement underscores the continued alignment between the two leaders on regional security matters, particularly regarding Iran.
