Donald Trump has indicated that the United States will not pursue diplomatic talks with Iran unless Tehran demonstrates genuine readiness to negotiate, according to statements made by the President. Trump emphasized that no active discussions or negotiations are currently underway between Washington and the Iranian government.
The comments come amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf region. Trump noted that the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical shipping lanes, remains fully operational. He added that naval mines in the strategic waterway have been either removed or detonated, easing concerns about maritime traffic disruptions.
The Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-third of global seaborne petroleum passes, has been a focal point of U.S.-Iran tensions. The Trump administration's position reflects its longstanding demand that Iran must first commit to serious negotiations before any formal talks can resume.
Iran has faced intense international scrutiny over its nuclear program and regional activities. The U.S. stance suggests Washington will maintain pressure on Tehran until officials signal a willingness to engage in substantive discussions on terms acceptable to the American government.
