Trump to observe 9/11 anniversary at Pentagon instead of New York
Former US President Donald Trump has altered his plans for commemorating the September 11 anniversary, opting to mark the occasion at the Pentagon rather than at the New York memorial site. The change comes amid reported restrictions imposed by the memorial's organizing authorities.

Trump was initially scheduled to pay respects at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the site of the former Twin Towers in New York City. However, the presumptive Republican presidential candidate shifted his commemorative plans to the Pentagon, which also suffered a direct attack during the September 11, 2001 terrorist strikes.
According to reports, the decision came after organizers of the New York memorial declined to accommodate Trump's preferred format for the observance. The memorial's management has historically maintained strict protocols regarding speeches and political remarks at the site, prioritizing a solemn, non-partisan atmosphere for visitors and families of victims.
The Pentagon, as the headquarters of the US Department of Defense, maintains its own memorial dedicated to the 184 individuals who lost their lives in the attack on the building. The venue has traditionally hosted official commemorative ceremonies throughout the years.
The shift in Trump's plans underscores the ongoing sensitivities surrounding how political figures participate in 9/11 remembrance events across multiple locations in the United States. Both sites remain significant landmarks for Americans marking the anniversary of the nation's deadliest terrorist attack.
