Trust established to oversee Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre
A newly formed Trust has been established to administer and manage the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre, providing the institution with independent governance and operational autonomy. The Trust was formally constituted on September 18, 2026.

The Trust will serve as an interim governing body responsible for the day-to-day administration and financial management of the cultural centre. This institutional arrangement is designed to ensure the centre's sustained operations and long-term viability in preserving and promoting Tamil cultural heritage in the Jaffna peninsula.
The Trust Board comprises four ex-officio members, including the Municipal Commissioner of Jaffna and the Mayor of Jaffna, alongside other designated representatives. This structure combines representation from local government administration with dedicated governance focused on the centre's cultural mission.
The establishment of the Trust marks a significant step in formalising the management of the cultural facility, which is dedicated to the legacy of Thiruvalluvar, the ancient Tamil philosopher and poet. The independent administrative framework is intended to enhance the centre's capacity to organise cultural programmes, maintain facilities, and engage with the broader community.
The Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre serves as an important venue for cultural activities and educational initiatives in the northern region, reflecting efforts to strengthen institutional support for Tamil heritage preservation and promotion.
