Tuchel tips Scott to rival Rice for England midfield role

Scott's performance in the lopsided encounter has caught Tuchel's attention, with the England boss signalling that the midfielder has done enough to stake a claim for regular selection. The 25-year-old made a strong impression in what marked his first start for the national team, demonstrating the quality that has earned him recognition at the highest level.

Tuchel, who took charge of the England setup earlier this year, has been assessing his squad's depth and flexibility across the midfield. The emphatic win over Croatia provided an opportunity to evaluate emerging talent alongside established players like Rice, who has been a cornerstone of England's midfield infrastructure.

The competitive environment created by Tuchel's squad rotation approach reflects his ambition to build squad depth ahead of upcoming fixtures. Scott's maiden start comes at a time when England has been looking to develop midfield options that can provide tactical flexibility and maintain the team's high standards.

With the international break providing a chance to evaluate performances, Tuchel's comments suggest that consistent competition for places will define his tenure. Whether Scott can sustain this momentum and translate a single impressive performance into sustained selection remains to be seen as England moves forward with its midfield planning.
