Vietnam's merchandise exports to Tunisia climbed to 45.47 million USD during the January-September period, representing a 10.2 percent increase from the same timeframe last year, according to figures from Vietnam Customs. The expansion reflects growing demand for Vietnamese products in the Tunisian market, where officials have signaled receptiveness to competitive Asian suppliers.
Overall bilateral trade reached 59.43 million USD, up 9.7 percent year-on-year, while Tunisian imports to Vietnam totaled 13.96 million USD, marking an 8.3 percent rise. The imbalance in trade flows highlights Vietnam's emerging role as a supplier of manufactured goods and processed products to the North African economy.
Trade counselors from both nations have emphasized opportunities for deepening commercial partnerships, particularly in agricultural commodities and consumer goods where Vietnamese producers demonstrate competitive advantages. Sector-specific collaborations in areas such as coffee and processed foods are being explored to strengthen economic bonds between Hanoi and Tunis.
The momentum in bilateral commerce reflects broader regional trends, as Southeast Asian exporters gain market share across Africa and the Middle East. Analysts attribute the performance to Vietnam's cost competitiveness, improving product quality, and active trade promotion efforts by government agencies.
