TVK MLA claims Rahul Gandhi backing Vijay's 2029 PM bid
A Tamil Nadu legislator from the Vijay Makkal Aniruddha Katchi (TVK) party has alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will support actor-turned-politician M.K. Stalin's successor in a push for the Prime Minister's office in the 2029 general elections.

A senior TVK legislator claimed on Tuesday that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has committed to supporting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Vijay's national political aspirations, asserting the opposition leader would back his Prime Minister bid in 2029.
Kanimozhi Santhosh, a TVK member of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly, made the assertion during a public event, drawing a parallel between Gandhi's alleged role in Vijay's current position and his expected support for higher office. "It was Mr. Rahul Gandhi who made our leader sit in the Chief Minister's chair. Similarly, in 2029, Mr. Rahul Gandhi would hold our leader's hand and lead him to the Prime Minister's chair," she said.
The statement underscores the TVK's growing political ambitions following Vijay's election as Chief Minister, marking a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's political landscape. The TVK, which recently entered the state's electoral arena, has positioned itself as an emerging force in regional politics.
Neither the Congress party nor Gandhi's office has publicly responded to the TVK legislator's claims. The remarks come amid ongoing speculation about potential alliances and political partnerships ahead of the 2029 national elections.
