Law Minister Azalina Othman Said has instructed an MP to retrieve comprehensive details regarding 12 politicians who received Discontinuance of No Further Action orders in 19 cases since 2010, according to parliamentary records.
The minister directed the parliamentarian to source the names of the politicians and specifics of the charges from the Attorney General's Chambers, which maintains official records of such proceedings.
DNAA orders represent a form of prosecutorial discretion that allows the AGC to discontinue legal action against individuals. The disclosure of such cases involving politicians has periodically drawn scrutiny from lawmakers concerned with transparency in the justice system.
The request comes as part of parliamentary proceedings seeking greater clarity on the application of discretionary prosecutorial powers. The AGC is the primary repository for case files and decisions related to these legal matters across Malaysia.
