As of 9.30am, the Department of Environment recorded unhealthy air quality readings across 24 locations nationwide, signalling a deterioration in air conditions across the country. The highest reading was registered in Pasir Gudang, Johor, which recorded an API level of 196, placing it firmly in the unhealthy range. The widespread nature of the pollution suggests atmospheric conditions are affecting multiple regions simultaneously. Residents in affected areas have been advised to take precautions, particularly vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions. The Department of Environment continues to monitor air quality levels throughout the day, with updates expected as conditions evolve. API readings in the unhealthy range, typically above 150, are associated with health risks and can impact outdoor activities and general wellbeing. Authorities have not yet attributed the haze to specific sources, though transboundary pollution remains a concern during the season.
