Twin infants rescued after being sold twice in Pampanga trafficking case

Officers from the Taguig City Police Department rescued the twin boys on Sunday after tracing them to Candaba in Pampanga province. According to police reports, the children's biological mother initially sold the infants for 30,000 pesos in August to a woman who claimed she intended to adopt them.

The case took a more serious turn when the children were subsequently sold again, this time for 71,000 pesos to another couple also residing in Candaba. The chain of transactions raised red flags with authorities, prompting the intervention that led to the twins' recovery.

The rescued infants are now in the custody of social welfare authorities as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the repeated sales. Authorities have not yet disclosed details regarding potential charges or the identities of those involved in the transactions.

The case highlights concerns about child trafficking and exploitation in the region, with social services officials set to conduct assessments of the children's welfare and determine appropriate next steps for their care and protection.
