Two AAP lawmakers resign, blame Kejriwal for Punjab's deterioration

Punjab legislators Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra and Chetan Singh Jauramajra resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday, intensifying criticism of the party's governance record in the state. Both MLAs leveled serious allegations against the Bhagwant Mann administration, citing failures in implementing key electoral promises and deteriorating ground conditions.

The departing lawmakers specifically highlighted the government's inability to deliver on its flagship 'Drug-Free Punjab' campaign, a central pledge during the 2022 state elections. They alleged that instead of curbing narcotics, the problem has worsened, with reports of home delivery of drugs and illegal sale of contraband substances persisting across the state.

Beyond drug policy, Pathanmajra and Jauramajra accused the AAP government of widespread corruption and failure to maintain law and order. They also expressed concern over the safety of social activists working on ground-level issues, suggesting a breakdown in administrative accountability.

The resignations mark a significant setback for the AAP in Punjab, where the party swept elections just two years ago on an anti-corruption and development platform. The defections underscore growing internal dissent and public discontent with the government's performance across multiple governance domains.
